Key Codes Used By A Locksmith - Lockaid
Locksmiths always use key codes to make keys. These key codes are made up of characters that have both numbers and letters; hence, they are called alphanumeric key codes. Key codes are generated in a random manner and provide an identity to a key that is different from that of other keys. Locksmiths are trained to make new keys, thus they can decipher the key code for any lock.
Key codes come in varying types. One type is the direct digit key code. Every digit on a digit key code is associated with a cut in the key. Several lock manufacturers put the key code on the key. Since each digit corresponds to a pin on the key, digit key codes are generally long codes. The second key code is one that has a pattern between the code and the key. Mathematics is used in this key code and thus, it isn’t as simple as direct digit key codes. The third type of key code is more complicated in nature and warrants the use of a codebook to be deciphered. Since the key doesn’t have any pattern that corresponds to the cuts, a locksmith will require a codebook. Due to the increasing use of computers, locksmiths can now buy computer programs to obtain more information on key codes. The software is copy-protected and is thus very secure.
Locksmith key codes fall into two categories, namely blind codes and bitting codes. Most key codes are blind key codes and a codebook or computer program is required to translate this blind code into a bitting code. Due to security reasons, only licensed locksmiths can avail of codebooks and computer programs. Locksmiths will incorporate the bitting codes on blank keys to make a new key.
This locksmith key coding system is being used almost everywhere. Since there is only one code per key, the system is very secure. Keys cannot be duplicated erroneously since computers won’t generate a code that has already been created. You are thus assured that your property is safe as only you have the keys to the locks that protect it.
